National Women's History Month

National Women's History Month

National Women’s History Month begins this Friday, March 1, highlighting contributions women contributed to history and contemporary society. Throughout our long history as a nation, women of all backgrounds faced challenges. Some of these challenges present themselves as harmful stereotypes, unequal access to education, workplace discrimination, and sexual violence or harassment. While we’ve taken steps towards a more equal society, many women in our country and the world still face these problems today.

To eliminate the many injustices that plague our lives and institutions, women in communities across the nation are developing programs within corporations, federal agencies, educational organizations, and the military. Their dedication and perseverance produced great changes for equality and fairness in society. The theme pushed for this month celebrates “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.”

Throughout 2024, we will honor the local women from the past and present who have taken the lead in creating positive changes in our world.
