  SCDOA is hosting its Inaugural Race for the Ages 5K

  The South Carolina Department on Aging is hosting the Race for the Ages 5K on November 2, 2024. Funds raised from the event will help vulnerable adults improve their quality of life by providing blankets, clothing, shoes, entertainment, communication devices, and much more.
  
  The inaugural 5K race will host 500 runners. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to interact with sponsors and vendors. Those who wish to walk instead of run, may do so following the kickoff of the 5K.

  September is National Senior Center Month

  Celebrated every year in September, National Senior Center Month is a time to shine a light on South Carolina’s Senior Centers. Senior centers are the “village square” of the community providing a whole host of activities, volunteerism opportunities, and programs to improve the health and wellbeing of older adults.

  VAGAL Training - Volunteers Needed

  The Vulnerable Adult Guardian ad Litem (VAGAL) program within the S.C. Department on Aging is looking for new volunteers. If you or someone you know would be interested in volunteering to advocate for adults 18+ who are served by the program and have been abused, neglected, exploited, or are no longer able to provide care for themselves, please click on the link above to view upcoming training information.
