Unlocking the Benefits of Pelvic Floor Therapy

Event Details

Pelham Medical Center logo

A therapist specializing in pelvic floor therapy may be able to help with uncomfortable, inconvenient, or embarrassing symptoms.

People often experience weakness in the pelvic floor muscles due to age, illness, surgery, childbirth, and other conditions. Issues in the pelvic floor — incontinence, constipation, urinary frequency or urgency, and pain to name a few — are common conditions. However, many people delay reporting such intimate conditions to their doctor.

Pelvic floor therapy can help both men and women strengthen muscles, increase stability, and promote proper function of the pelvic organs.

Occupational therapist Kim Mielke, with Spartanburg Regional's Pelvic Health Program, explains the pelvic floor anatomy, addresses some common issues, and shares ways therapy works.

This event is free, and lunch is provided with registration. Space is limited. Registration is required.
