  Talk Medicare With Me Thursdays — October 15, 2026

  Join the South Carolina Department on Aging's State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SCSHIP) on the third Thursday of each month for a free online Medicare educational webinar.
  
  Whether you're new to Medicare, preparing to enroll, or simply want a better understanding of your coverage options, our certified Medicare counselors will provide clear, unbiased information to help you make informed decisions. Topics may include Medicare Parts A, B, C, and D, enrollment periods, Medicare Advantage plans, prescription drug coverage, Medicare Supplement insurance, and programs that may help lower Medicare costs.

  Donate to the ElderCare Trust Fund

  The ElderCare Trust Fund awards grants to non-profit organizations that create innovative programs to help older adults live in dignity in their homes, avoiding institutionalization. To contribute to the fund, check the box on line 28 of the state income tax form.

  VAGAL is looking for volunteers!

  The Vulnerable Adult Guardian ad Litem Program of South Carolina (VAGAL SC) is looking for dedicated volunteers to advocate for vulnerable adults, ages 18 and older, who are often victims of abuse, neglect, or exploitation and are in protective custody. As a VAGAL volunteer, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable adults.
  
  You'll build relationships with the adults and interact with their families, caregivers, social workers, and healthcare providers. Your role will involve gathering important information about the adult's situation, exploring solutions to improve their well-being, and providing impartial recommendations to the South Carolina Family Court
